The 2007
Simba Circle Reunion was held at Northern Illinois University
Center for Black Studies in Dekalb ,IL. February 2007 It was
the first time the University took part in such a life
changing event. Many times we hear the African Proverb
"It take a village to raise one child." During the aforementioned
event, that proverb came to life. We are extremely grateful to
all of the NIU community members, The Rock Christian Church,
New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, and the Nation of Islam
for coming together for the greater good of the community building
stronger African American Males and instilling in them a
purpose for life.
My name is LaMetra H. Curry; I had the opportunity to send
my children Kenneth and Hananiah Wiggins to SIMBA for four years, prior
to the reunion that was held in Dekalb. I received first hand knowledge
of the miracles that SIMBA offered because of the growth in my
sons. I was led by God to assist in creating the DEKALB
SIMBA chapter.
